Let's Get Out...Explore Day
For youth age 13 and under
April
25, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Van Wert City North Reservoir.
Register at 10:30 a.m. at the Rotary Park Shelter House off State Route
127, near Water Treatment Plant.
Discover
the outdoors by learning fishing techniques, hunting skills, how to
use your BB gun and bow
and arrow and see a display of turtles.
 
A program on
box and aquatic turtles will be given by Cathy Hiestand of the Allen
County Rehabilitation Tulpehocken Center, a licensed rehab center. The
Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Division, under the
direction of Brad Buening, will provide fishing lessons. Officers from the
Division of Watercraft will be giving pointers on water safety and boating
techniques.
Free
hot dogs, chips and pop at lunchtime.
This
annual event is sponsored jointly by the ODNR, Wildlife Division, Step-Out
Grant, the NWTF and the Van Wert City Parks Department, with help from
Starr Commonwealth students.
Open
to all youth.
The
Van
Wert
City Parks Department under the direction of Sue Heppeard will be
provide general supervision.
